Build a better maths foundation

The Maths Skill Set is unlike anything else out there because it supports early maths learning by connecting it to real life through hands-on experiences that make core concepts fun and easy to practise at home. It’s completely screen-free for children. Instead of videos, cartoons, or worksheets, children engage in activities that mirror everyday life, allowing them to explore number concepts in real ways that make maths feel useful and meaningful.

The Maths Skill Set is based on research showing that children learn maths best when they understand both the “how” (procedural knowledge) and the “why” (conceptual understanding). It uses hands-on materials to help children see and explore maths concepts, and follows the Concrete, Representational, Abstract (CRA) model, which is widely used by teachers and maths experts.

In this approach, children engage with maths in a concrete way using objects they can see and touch. They are introduced to representational learning through drawings or visual models, and work with abstract symbols like numbers and equations. This framework helps children build a deeper understanding and connect ideas across different ways of thinking.

Timing will vary by child, of course, but you should plan on at least 4–6 months per Part. That said, the games are designed to be fun far beyond this time period.

Our goal is to help your child feel comfortable and confident with maths so that it never feels intimidating, and so that they can keep up as they advance in school. The Maths Skill Set helps them build a positive maths mindset starting at home.

You don’t need to know how to teach maths. We provide support for parents, including a physical Play Guide and videos that show how to use the playthings and games, how to recognise when your child is ready for the next Part, and expert guidance to help make maths feel fun and approachable.

You’ll also find guidance on how to interact with the materials based on your child’s current skill level, with videos that show how to increase or decrease the level of challenge.

The Maths Skill Set is designed as a three-part programme that you can purchase individually, starting with the Part that’s right for your child. It is not a subscription.

Part 1 is available for individual purchase and ships in July. You can also choose a Part 1 and Part 2 bundle to secure Part 2 in advance, for £30 off. Part 2 will ship later in 2026 when it becomes available on its own.

Part 3 is coming soon and will build on earlier skills with more advanced problem-solving and real-world maths applications.
